I write almost daily, yet this blog sits and doesn’t get much attention. But that’s silly because I have been photographing my life, and maybe yours, for years. There are images on hard drives worthy of sharing, stories that need to be told. But there are also people to communicate with and places to be.
So, I guess it’s a balance thing. Maybe.
Speaking of balance, mine has been off. December has been off. Vertigo, dizziness, fatigue, head and joint pain to bring me into birthday and holiday season. Things improved somewhat, I found a few days of partial relief, only to then get headaches that have lasted the last several days. But this is not what we photographers are supposed to be sharing on our blogs. No. It’s all positivity all the time and every client is the absolute best, even the ones who make you question everything you are doing. Every shoot is amazing, even if everything that could go wrong did.
So, yes my balance is off. On so many levels. And I need to find it again/figure it out.
Or do I? It could be that weird thing that happens between the busy season, the holidays (which always messes up my routine), and the winter slumber we sort of want that is January. Dreams of spending January getting organized, catching up on reading, knitting by a fireplace, updating websites and editing personal photos. Isn’t this what some of us want/wish for? That hunker down hibernation mode before re-engaging with the rest of the world and the cold New England air. That time to think and regroup and get ready to tackle the year ahead.
It’s possible I’m not really that unbalanced right now. That maybe this is a needed phase while ideas stir and new goals hatch.
The vertigo and weird pains, however. Those I could do without. I’ll get there. On both fronts.
And for what it’s worth, I do have really great clients. And I will continue to gush about them.
